How to Switch NDIS Providers in Queensland (Without Losing Momentum)

If your current NDIS provider isn't quite the right fit, you're not stuck with them. Participants can change providers at any time — but it helps to know what the process actually looks like before you start.
Here's how to switch without your supports grinding to a halt.
1. Get clear on why you're switching
It could be communication, service quality, availability, or simply that your needs have changed. Knowing exactly what you want from a new provider makes it much easier to find the right match.
2. Check your NDIS plan and service agreement
Look at your current service agreement for any notice periods, and check your NDIS plan for how much funding remains in each support category. Your support coordinator (or the NDIS directly, if you're plan- or self-managed) can help clarify this.
3. Find your new provider before you leave your current one
Wherever possible, line up your new provider first so there's no gap in support. A good provider will be upfront about their availability and how quickly they can start.
4. Give notice in writing
Most service agreements ask for written notice — an email is usually enough. Keep a copy for your records.
5. Update your NDIS plan details
If you're plan-managed or agency-managed, your plan manager or the NDIA will need the new provider's details to process payments correctly.
Switching providers can feel like a big step, but it doesn't have to be complicated. If you're considering a move, our team is happy to talk through what support with EHSS would look like — no pressure, just a conversation.
